Tyre’s are they legal?

Tyres are you legal?
UK Law requires that your vehicle is fitted with the correct tyre and size of tyre for the vehicle type you are driving. This means fitting the right tyres and inflating to the manufacturers recommendations.

Currently the legal limit for minimum tyre tread depth is 1.6mm’s across the middle ¾ of the tread around the FULL circumference. For safety reasons Freeway recommend that you replace the tyre before this legal limit is reached and you’ll find that many vehicle manufacturers recommend them to be replaced at 3mm’s. You would be amazed at the braking distances differences between a full treaded tyre and one on the legal limit. At 1.6mm in wet conditions it can take an extra car length to stop at 50MPGH than if your tyre tread was at 3mm’s

We advise you to check your tyres at regular intervals so that you avoid 3 points on your licence and fines upto £2500 PER TYRE for having the tread worn below the legal minimum limit.
